Barbara Schmidt is Senior Lecturer in the School of Arts and Modern Languages at Université de Lorraine in Nancy, France. She is specialized in Victorian and Edwardian social and cultural history. She has translated several essays and novels such as Indiana, Indiana – The Dark and Lovely Portions of the Night by Laird Hunt (Actes Sud, 2007), Other Electricities by Ander Monson (Cherche-Midi, 2009), or The Instructions by Adam Levin (Inculte, 2011). She has also collaborated to several books on translation or on teaching professional English. She is one of the three co-organizers of the ARIEL project and the coordinator of the ARIEL translation team.
