This book is about the daily life in the Yaoundé Central Prison. It wants to go over African prisons' stereotypes, often reduced to overcrowded and antiquated spaces. It lights up the urban life of the subalterns and her political regulation. It demonstrates the continuum between prison and popular neighbourhoods. The book crosses urban, social and political approaches of geography, from an object barely studied by the discipline. It is the result of a research conducted since 2010 (interviews repeated with inmates, their families, penitentiary administration, NGO, and observations in the prison and in Yaoundé).
